What handlebars fit a Road King?

Do I need longer cables for taller bars on a Road King?
Taller bars can require longer clutch, throttle and brake lines depending on the rise and the year of your Road King. Rather than list a single blanket length, Steel Guru confirms the exact requirements for the year you specify at order time so nothing is left to guess. If you have already fitted risers or extended lines, add that in the notes when you order.
How do you change the handlebars on a Road King?
As on any Harley, the switch housings, clutch lever (or hydraulic clutch master cylinder) and front brake master cylinder come off the old bar (keep the master cylinders upright), the riser clamp opens, the new bar goes in at the angle you want and the clamp bolts are torqued to the figure in your service manual. If your Road King has electronic throttle, its wiring also has to reach the new bar, and wiring that runs inside the bar has to be de-pinned and pulled through. Turn the bars lock to lock to check nothing pulls tight, then test the brake, clutch, throttle and switches before you ride. If you would rather not work on brakes and wiring, have a Harley workshop fit them.
Are tall handlebars road-legal in the EU?
There's no single EU rule: each country sets its own, and few set a fixed height limit. The usual requirements are about function (bars securely fixed, free steering from lock to lock, controls within easy reach), while some countries, such as Germany, also require a parts certificate or an inspection, which our bars don't carry yet. So Steel Guru builds to the dimensions you order and asks that you check the rules in your registration country before fitting. If you tell us where the bike is registered we can flag anything that looks out of the ordinary, but the final legal call sits with the rider.
