Harley-Davidson crash bars

For the job they are built for, yes. In a tip-over or a low-speed drop, the bar and its replaceable nylon sliders are designed to take the contact instead of your primary cover, tank, engine cases or lower bodywork, and a scuffed slider unbolts and swaps out in minutes. A crash bar protects the bike, not the rider: it is not certified safety equipment and is not a substitute for protective riding gear.

Most are steel tube, powder-coated or chromed. Ours is bent from a single length of 1.25-inch (32 mm) S235 steel tube with a 3 mm wall, TIG-welded by hand in our own workshop and finished in gloss or matt black, chrome or a custom colour. It weighs about 3 kg, and the contact points carry replaceable nylon sliders.

Yes. Crash bar, engine guard and highway bar are names for the same part: a steel hoop bolted to the frame that wraps around the front of the engine. Harley-Davidson calls its own version an engine guard.

No. It bolts to your Harley's factory engine guard mounting points and reuses the original bolts: no drilling and no frame modification.

Every weld, every bend and the steel itself are covered for the lifetime of the original buyer under normal riding conditions, and the finish has a 10-year warranty against peeling, blistering, bubbling and delamination. Damage from crashes, drops, stone chips or incorrect installation is not covered.
